Qpod 004 ::: Ben Haus

This wookie hunter is the brainchild behind Qpod, as well as San Francisco's Acid Totem sound system.  Ben's been putting together free outdoor parties for nearly a decade, with the last five years being dedicated to the Acid Totem collective.

A fervent believer in the squelchy acid sounds of Roland's tb-303, Ben's musical tastes reflect San Francisco's unique relationship with psychedelia.  A decade plus of record collecting has allowed him to amass a library that can cater to nearly any mood or situation.  However, it's the short period of time when the sky is turning from dark blue to pink, before the sun crests over the horizon, that Ben digs deepest into his crate to indulge the party elite to a truly surreal experience.

Barely a week into Spring, 2008 is already proving to be a hectic year for Acid Totem- with no less than a dozen parties marked on the calendar.  Coming up in the latter half of April, Acid Totem returns to where they had their first party, the Santa Cruz mountains.  Going down the night of Saturday, April 19, the Santa Cruz Mountains Full Moon Smoke Out has been garnering attention since it was announced earlier this year.  You can check out several of Ben's older mixes here.
